Team Jeffress
Robyn Beecher - Caddy
Steve met Rob in 1996 at the Port Macquarie GC whilst serving his traineeship. Rob was formerly a very good sportsperson and competed in most sports at a very high level and in 1995 chose to try her hand at golf. Her ability showed quickly, becoming a single figure marker, collecting numerous club and regional titles. Rob began caddying for Steve when he was a trainee and currently is ‘on the bag’ for most events.
She is impeccably organised, manages Steve’s event schedule and travel arrangements and until recently housed him (with husband, John) for 6 years. She holds membership at the Emerald Lakes GC on the Gold Coast playing from an 8 handicap (comfortably!).
Cousins, Karen and Mardi Lunn have been prominent Tour players over the last 15 years and son, Bradley caddies full time on the US Ladies Tour.
Rob is a true people’s person and enjoys her position as Golf Bookings Coordinator at Palm Meadows on Queensland’s Gold Coast.
Tony Attwill - Swing Coach
Steve met Tony ‘Fuehrer’ Attwill in 2001, when Tony was the Club Professional at Port Macquarie GC. Several postural and swing thought improvements were implemented which they still use now. Steve is regarded by his peers (backed up by tournament statistics) as one of the best tee to green players on the Australasian Tour and aside from his natural ball striking ability, Tony’s excellent study and guidance has played a key role. They stay focused on Steve’s goal of being a full time USPGA Tour player. Judging by Steve’s 2007 Australasian Tour performances that goal will become a reality sooner than later!
Tony has been an Australian PGA member for 34 years and held Club Professional positions at Grafton, Sawtell and Port Macquarie Golf Clubs. He currently coaches full time at the Palm Meadows Golf Range on Queensland’s Gold Coast.
Kev Morley - Short Game Coach
Steve met Kev ‘Colonel’ Morley in 2005, not long after Kev started coaching at the Palm Meadows Golf Range. Following several reviews on Steve’s short game statistics in key events, they have worked on his putting process and skill development. His greenside wedge ‘basics’ has also been another priority. Steve has been an excellent sand and wedge distance control player for some time.
Kev has developed a process based training method for any level of player (it’s simple!) which Steve uses regularly in his training.
One of the highlights of Kev and Steve’s time together was the second stage of 2006 US Tour Q School at Southern Dunes, Phoenix. Kev caddied and says the experience of ‘being there’ helped greatly in defining the quality required to be or to train a world class player. Kev has since helped more professional, international amateur and club players achieve their goals.
He currently coaches full time at the Palm Meadows Golf Range
on Queensland’s Gold Coast. Kev’s catchphrase is ‘real golf info for life’. Judging by Steve’s 2007 Australasian Tour performances their work is paying off.
Lawrie Montague - Mental Coach
Lawrie Montague has been a PGA member since 2005 and is a former National Women’s Coach and State Women’s Coach and Junior Boys Coach for NSW. As a professional golf instructor he has in excess of thirty five thousand hours of experience on the lesson tee and has coached more than fifty PGA and LPGA players from all over the world.
Currently he owns and operates two golf schools and a personal development business based on the Gold Coast. Lawrie is also a corporate speaker on topics such as; unlocking your potential in your people and has spoken at conferences all over Australia to some of Australia’s largest and most successful companies over the last ten years.
He has been working with Steve Jeffress for more than five years on improving his ability to focus to improving his tournament performances.
